Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing enjoys final of 2024 interministerial universities’  football tournament and gives away prizes

The final and prize-presentation ceremony of the 2024 interministerial universities’ football tournament took place at Wunna Theikdi Stadium here this afternoon, attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who gave away prizes.

SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SAC members, union ministers, union level officials, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw  Command  commander, deputy ministers, departmental officials, members of tournament organizing committee, officials, managers, coaches and footballers of the teams, students and faculty members of inter-ministerial universities, families of the ministries, and sports enthusiasts were also present.

The Senior General and attendees enjoyed the final match between Ministry of Education team and Ministry of Border Affairs team.

The two finalists put pressure on each other in the first half that ended in a goal-less draw. At the 68th minute of the second half, Border Affairs Ministry team scored the lone goal of the match and won with a 1-0 result.

At the prize presentation ceremony, union ministers, Dr Nyunt Pe and U Ko Ko Hlaing, presented medals and cash awards individually to best goalkeeper award and best defender award winners respectively, and SAC members, U Yan Kyaw, U Shwe Kyein, Khun San Lwin and Dr Ba Shwe, medals and cash awards individually to best midfielder award, best striker award, top scorer award, and player of the tournament award winners respectively.

Council Member Dr. Hmu Htan presented individual medals and honorary awards to the team representing the Ministry of Science and Technology, which won fourth place; Council Member Porel Aung Thein, to the team representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, which won third place; and Council Member Daw Dwe Bu, to the team representing the Ministry of Education, which won second place.

Then, Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo awarded individual medals to the team representing the Ministry of Border Affairs, which  won first place.

Following this, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing presented honorary cash awards and the championship trophy to the team representing the Ministry of Border Affairs.

After the award ceremony, the Senior General and party warmly greeted the participating athletes.

In the football tournament, seven teams representing universities under the respective ministries participated, including  the Ministry of Border Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Health. The competition took place from August 31 to September 9.
