Progress in socio-economic lives of individuals in the country will lead to socio-economic development of the country.
When socio-economic development has been achieved, the entitlements of government employees who are discharging duties of the country will improve. As regional development will lead to national one, administrative officials and departmental staff who are performing duties for regional development in respective regions and local residents are required to make concerted efforts to achieve economic development, Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said in his speech to officers, other ranks and families of LaShip Station in the Northeastern Command this afternoon.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Senior General, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and wives, Commander of the Northeastern Command Maj- Gen Naing Naing Oo and responsible officers and officers, other ranks and families in LaShip Station.
Measures for development of country taken by laying down objectives, roadmap First, the Senior General delivered an address, saying the Tatmadaw has been playing a role in national affairs in successive eras of the country and tasks to be taken ahead will be explained. Tasks were carried out by laying down objectives for annual commemorative days and Armed Forces Day during the terms of the previous Tatmadaw government and the two democratic governments.
During the terms of earlier governments, objectives were laid down for political, economic and social affairs. Political parties have to reveal their future tasks and policies to the public during election campaigns to organize the people. After holding elections, the winning party will form a government and discharge duties of the state by implementing policies adopted. Depending on their implementation of their policies and contributions to national interests, they will get results in the election held after their terms have expired.
Similarly, the Tatmadaw had to declare a state of emergency in accordance with the law on 1 February, 2021 to fulfill the needs of the country and has been performing duties of the country. Since taking office, measures have been taken by laying down objectives and roadmaps. Objectives for an election, COVID-19, boosting the economy of the country, peace and holding a general election were laid down and are being implemented.
As tasks are carried out by laying down objectives, it can be seen that certain progress has been made during the two-year period of assumption of state duties by the government.
However, high commodity prices were caused by sanctions against the country.
Due to various attacks aiming at the collapse of banks, the government had to take measures to protect banks from collapse. As the collapse of banks will damage the economy, tasks were carried out to prevent inflation.
Before the assumption of duties by the government, the economic growth of the country dropped to – 5.8 percent. As efforts have been made for economic development amid sanctions since the assumption of duties by the government, it can be seen that certain progress has been made and it is estimated that further economic development will be achieved. The economy of the country has improved thanks to efforts for development of agriculture and livestock breeding products. The causes of high commodity prices are international sanctions and activities of some greedy people who advance their own self-interests. As appropriate action was taken against them, commodity prices have fallen.
While the government is carrying out tasks for the development of the country, there are saboteurs. At the same time as it is engaging in production activities on the one hand, the Tatmadaw is carrying out tasks for national defence. The government has adopted roadmaps and objectives in carrying out national development tasks. The purpose is to prevent the political, economic and social affairs of the country from deteriorating.
Tatmadaw personnel are required to make concerted efforts to achieve such endeavours.
To hold elections again, it is necessary to make sure that voters’ lists are correct and all eligible voters can cast their votes. Therefore, a population census will be conducted in the entire country in 2024. Based on data collected, voters’ lists will be available. An election can be held after the population census has been conducted. It is imperative that the election held by the government is a free, fair and proper one. Efforts must be made to hold an all-inclusive, free and fair election.
The election will be held as soon as possible after conducting the population census. Therefore, the Tatmadaw is required to help make the population census a success and to carry out tasks for territorial control and organization.
Efforts to be made for socioeconomic development of residents of areas where on perform duties
As local battalions in Shan State (North) have been indivisible with residents, the battalions are required to make concerted efforts for socio-economic development of national races and stability in the area where they are performing duties.
Similarly, the SAC has taken measures for development of socio-economic lives of Shan State (North) and its residents.
To facilitate transportation, roads, railroads and airports are being upgraded.
Tasks are being carried out for educational enhancement of Tatmadaw personnel and literacy of their dependent spouses in arms while three Rs courses are being conducted for local national races to enable them to read. Plans are underway to open an agriculture and livestock breeding college in Lashio. In the same way as tasks are being carried out for educational enhancement of local residents, it is necessary to encourage educational development of the offspring of Tatmadaw personnel.
By applying education one has acquired, career development of individuals can be achieved.
To be disciplined personnel, to be physically, mentally fit, healthy
The main duty of the Tatmadaw is national defence. All Tatmadaw personnel are required to carry tasks assigned to each one. One will be an outstanding personnel if one practices and carries out tasks assigned to each one and behaves in accordance with disciplines and rules. The Tatmadaw performs duties as team work and it is necessary to be competent in warfare from the most fundamental ones. Relevant corps are required to be well versed in respective academic disciplines. Therefore, all relevant personnel are required to carry out tasks assigned to them with all seriousness.
All personnel are urged to successfully implement manageable level agriculture and livestock breeding tasks carried out for the welfare of them. By doing so, they will contribute to food, shelter and clothing of families. Officers are required to properly implement welfare tasks for Tatmadaw personnel.
In connection with health and fitness, it is necessary for personnel to take part in sports and games daily. As playing games and sports contribute to physical fitness, they can contribute to defence duties.
Similarly, spouses in arms of personnel are also urged to take part in sports and games which will contribute to health.
In conclusion, the Senior General urged all to lead proper lives as taking part in sports and games that will enhance health and consuming healthy food contribute to physical and mental fitness. Then, the Senior General asked after the needs of officers, other ranks and families and coordinated them.
Then, the Senior General presented foodstuffs for officers, other ranks and families to the commander while the wife of the Senior General presented cash rewards for the station maternal and child welfare association to the wife of the commander.
Afterward, the Senior General and wife and party cordially greeted the officers, other ranks and families who attended the meeting.
Then, the Senior General and wife and party visited officers, other ranks, families and local residents who were receiving treatments in local defence services hospital in LaShip and asked after their health individually before speaking words of comfort and offering gifts.
