Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addresses 60th Anniversary Ceremony of MPF

A ceremony to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Myanmar Police Force was held at Myanmar International Convention Centre-2 in Nay Pyi Taw this morning and Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered an address at the ceremony.

Also presented at the ceremony were the Joint Secretary of the Council General Ye Win Oo and members of the SAC, union ministers and union level officials, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers, diplomats, distinguished guests from international organizations, departmental heads, woman affairs and related organizations, the chief of the MPF and members of the police, retired police officers and officers.

First, the Senior General and attendees saluted the flag of the national flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and stood in silence in honor of members of the police, who died in action.

Then, the Senior General delivered an address, saying the police force was reformed after regaining independence and it was renamed as the People’s Police Force on 1 October, 1964 and the day was designated as the PPF day. On 1 October, 1995, the PPF was reformed as the Myanmar Police Force. Today is the 60 Anniversary of the MPF.

Members of the MPF are required to uphold “Our Three Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addresses 60th Anniversary Ceremony of MPF Main National Causes” and to continue to realize the five-point roadmap and nine objectives of the SAC and stability and the rule of law in the entire union for the safety of socio-economic lives of the people. The MPF is urged to cooperate with the Tatmadaw and the people in counter-terrorism.

Moreover, members of the MPF are required to implement the four objectives of the MPF such as tranquility of wards and villages, the rule of law, prevention of danger of narcotic drugs and public services and six tasks of the MPF including crime prevention, investigation and charging at the court of law maintaining order in the country, public security, prevention and elimination of psycho-tropic and narcotic drugs and public services.

The MPF of the Ministry of Home Affairs has established a Border Liaison Offices network with five neighboring countries and is urged to hold BLOs meetings continuously to share information with them in real time.

A total of 54,433 foreigners from 28 countries, who illegally entered Myanmar during the period from October, 2023 and August, 2024, were deported in accordance with rules and regulations.

Myanmar is closely cooperating with international organizations to prevent and eliminate the dangers posed by narcotic drugs. Myanmar has continued to conduct special drug elimination Operation 39/24 (2024) from 2023 to 2024. During the period from 1 January to 31 August, 2024, Myanmar was able to reveal 3,832 drug seizure cases and arrested 5,286 suspects, worth Ks-750 billion of drugs and precursor materials.

To take action against human trafficking effectively, Myanmar enacted a new law on 16 June 2022. During the time from October 2023 to August 2024, the MPF took action against 30 men and 66 women, totaling 96 in 27 human trafficking cases and rescued 5 men and 44 women victims totaling 49. It is cooperating with INTERPOL and ASEA-NAPOL in curbing regional human trafficking crimes and launching antihuman trafficking campaigns.

Continued efforts are required for further success.

The nation recognized the efforts of the anti-human trafficking teams and conferred gallantry performance medals on them.

Zeal, perseverance, morale and efforts of police members who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty are honoured and recognized.

Ye Thura medal was conferred on 10 police members, Ye Bala medals on 132, Ye Kyawthu medals on two, Excellence in Social Duties (Grade 2) on one, good police personnel medal on 389, State Police Service medal on 786, joint combat medal on 2,765, good public servant medal on 67, public servant medal on 57, law and order restoration medal on 5,642, totaling 9,851 during the period from 1 October 2023 to 1 October 2024.

In ensuring security and stability and rule of law in the entire country, police members need to join hands with people in taking crime prevention, and exposing the suspects immediately and take action against them. Hence, all police members should strive with unity to have the ability honored and relied on by the people in accord with loyalty, integrity and courage of MPF.

In building MPF under the goal – patriotism, capacity and modernity, its members must be trained to possess good moral, capability and be dutiful, the essence of a good institution.

They must try to become the dutiful lawmen that are skilled in police duties and reliable, and possess honesty and integrity in safeguarding public interest.

 They must always keep in fore Our Three Main National Causes and realize the three aims and six duties of MPF.

The Senior General then conferred medals of excellent performance and courage on 4 MPF members, the SAC Joint Secretary, medals of excellent performance and courage on three members, the SAC member Home Affairs Union Minister medals of excellent performance and courage on two members and medal of performance on one member.

The Senior General posed for documentary photo together with the attendees and cordially greeted them.

He visited the commemorative booths on documentary photos, embossed figures, equipment, technological tools, weapons, uniforms, communication sets, drug searchers with keen interest.
