It reminds us of the CLMV cooperation mechanism, which was conceived at the first ACMECS meeting held in Bagan, Myanmar in 2003.
Since then, CLMV member countries have relentlessly built regional peace, prosperity and a united community.
Myanmar has been discharging duties as the leading country in cooperation in the agriculture, industrial and energy sectors.
Further improvement of infrastructure and technology links of CLMV countries is the most important task for regional development.
The pandemic considerably affected the industrial sectors of CLMV countries. For the recovery of the sectors, we are required to build and upgrade economic corridors, links between economic corridors, industrial technological infrastructures and industrial facilities through special economic zones.
In connection with natural disasters, CLMV countries are among the most vulnerable and affected countries in the region.
Exerting efforts to reduce the impacts of climate change is an important challenge for our region.
Therefore, we are required to work together to deal with the challenge posed by natural and man-made disasters and to reinforce disaster management mechanisms, reduction of impacts of climate change, reduction of disaster impacts in the region, early warning systems and management.
Tourism among CLMV countries is very important for people-to-people engagement. Moreover, ecotourism can contribute a lot to the economic development of local people.
Therefore, we should encourage local businesses related to tourism that can conserve natural environment and cultural practices and the MSMEs sectors.
Availability of funds is essential in the progress of cooperative mechanisms including the CLMV cooperative mechanism.
I would like to thank the ASEAN secretariat for his efforts to make funds available through IAI programs.
Moreover, assistance and support of development partners for CLMV projects is taken seriously.
