High-level Myanmar delegation led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing that attended summits including the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Kunming, the People’s Republic of China left Kunming International Airport for Chongqing yesterday evening and was seen off at the airport by Mr. Yang Yalin, Standing Committee member of Chinese Communist Party, and officials, and Chinese traditional cultural troupes waving miniature flags of the two countries and performing folk dances.
The Senior General and party arrived at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in the late evening and were warmly welcomed by Vice Governor of Chongqing Mr. Shang Kui and members, Consul General of Myanmar Consulate-General U Kyaw Zeya Lin and officials by presenting bouquets.
This morning, the Senior General and party met staff and families of the Myanmar Consulate- General in Chongqing and scholars.
First, the Senior General and party were warmly welcomed by the staff and families. Then the Senior General looked around the Consulate-General and attended to the needs of officials.
At the meeting with staff and families of the Consulate-General and scholars, the Consul General reported on undertakings to promote cooperation in multi-sectors including economic, education and health fields. In response, the Senior General said personnel of the Consulate-General should be able to successfully perform their duties in other areas, in addition to diplomatic relations.
They should be able to generate opportunities for mutually beneficial economic undertakings, export and import services and investments between the two countries. In this way, there will be progress in interactions, leading to serving the interest of the peoples of both countries more and helping develop the national economy. As production of a large number of human resources is the foundation of a region’s development, the diplomatic staff should also take part in education promotion activities. They must improve the country’s image through self-control, dutifulness and hospitality. They should be able to promote national pride by setting up the main supportive platform for Myanmar-China friendship and trade.
The Senior General presented gifts and cash awards for Consulate-General staff and families through the Consul General and to scholars.
The Senior General signed the visitors book of the Consulate-General and cordially greeted staff and families and scholars.
