Chairman of the State Administration Council Commanderin- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a peace delegation led by U San Pae, vice chairman of the National Democratic Alliance Army-NDAA (Mongla), at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw and discussed peace issues this morning.
Together with the Senior General at the meeting were SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander- in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The vice chairman of NDAA (Mongla) was accompanied by General Secretary of the Peace and Solidarity Committee U Kyi Myint, Secretary (2) U Ar Lu and Head of Relations and Communications Department U Sai Mauk.
The Senior General discussed matters related to situations where more efforts can be made for the development of the Union only if armed conflicts can be resolved through peaceful negotiations, the need for ensuring sustainable development in education, health and economic sectors without any halt when peace talks are in progress, efforts to achieve peace to hand down a stable, peaceful and developed Union to future generations, practice of multi-party democracy in accord with the public desire and establishment of a union system based on democracy and federalism.
The delegation led by the vice chairman of NDAA (Mongla) expressed their welcome to the Senior General’s farsightedness to achieve internal peace and development through magnanimous offer for peace talks and discussed the NDAA (Mongla) adhering to the concept of nondisintegration of the Union, national solidarity and perpetuation of national sovereignty without splitting away from the Union, their similar views on the practice of multi-party democracy, establishment of a union system based on democracy and federalism and economic, health, education and regional development tasks of the indigenous people. Then, both sides cordially discussed matters pertaining to peace, education, health and regional development.
After the meeting, the Senior General presented gifts to the NDAA (Mongla) vice chairman and delegation members. The delegation also presented local products to the Senior General. They then posed for a documentary photo. The NDAA (Mongla) delegation will continue to discuss with the peace negotiation team and the National Solidarity and Peace Coordination Committee formed by the SAC.
