Ceremony to present honorary titles in commemoration of the 77th Anniversary Independence Day was held at Thabin Hall of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office this morning.

Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing delivered an address at the ceremony and presented honorary titles.

Also present were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, Vice Chairman  of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Thiri Pyanchi Maha Thray Sithu Soe Win and wife, the SAC Secretary and wife, the SAC Joint Secretary and wife, SAC members and wives, union level officials, union ministers and wives, senior military officers from Office of Commander- in-Chief, title recipients and families.

In his address, the Senior General said national races, children of the Union, had lived in unity under their own monarchs and in the embrace of the Union, while preserving their traditions  and cultures, for many years. In the course of  history, Myanmar stood tall as a sovereign nation till the Konboung era.

Because of the evil colonialism, Myanmar, rich in natural resources, was  unjustly occupied by the British after three aggressive wars in 1824, 1852 and 1885 respectively, followed by the loss of independence and sovereignty.

Nationalities of the Union, who loved and valued independence and sovereignty, joined hands with the Tatmadaw in fighting back the colonialists  with relentless perseverance, zeal, courage and full patriotism for many years. Thanks to the force of unity, Myanmar could again stand tall in the world as an independent and sovereign country on 4 January 1948. Now is the 77th Anniversary of the independence. It is common knowledge that due to the evil  legacy of colonialism and internal and external intrigues, peace and stability is still weak in the country that is also facing conflicts.

It is the bounden duty of all to perpetuate independence, the heritage our forefathers had taken back after sacrificing lots of blood and sweat, and handed down to us. In addition to perpetuating and safeguarding the country’s independence, all should take part with ardent efforts in building a peaceful, modern and developed nation, the aspiration of the persons who fought back to regain independence.

The SAC has outlined five key future objectives, emphasizing its commitment  to holding free and fair multi-party democratic general elections. The council also aims to ensure stability, peace, and the complete enforcement of the rule of law across the Union, alongside promoting socio-economic development for ethnic people. He stated that since undertaking the national duty, he has been steadfastly implementing nine core objectives, which include strengthening a genuine and disciplined multi-party democracy and working toward the establishment of a Union founded on democracy and federalism.

In addition, two national goals, namely national prosperity and food security, are being prioritized and actively implemented. In this implementation, the strength of all ethnic groups born in the Union is essential, and the participation of everyone is crucial. Under the leadership of the government, individuals who have devoted themselves with unwavering commitment, utilizing their knowledge, skills, and abilities, and who have made selfless sacrifices for the country, are being honored with deserving honorary titles and medals on Independence Day and other significant occasions.

The SAC annually honors and rewards individuals who have tirelessly contributed to building a peaceful, modern, and developed nation, made sacrifices to uphold the national policy of Our Three Main National Causes, and made significant contributions toward achieving political, economic, and social objectives for peace, rule of law, and national development, as well as those who have attained world-class achievements in  science, art, and other fields, and excelled in literature and the fine arts.

He stated that he would like to express his special pride and joy in the recipients  and their families, as the awards of honorary degrees and medals were conferred based on recommendations submitted in line with the established provisions. Only those who truly met the criteria for honor and recognition were  selected systematically and in accordance with the award guidelines.

At today’s ceremony, a total of 122 individuals will be awarded the respective honorary titles, including 2 Sithu titles, 9 Thura titles, 5 Thiripyanchi titles, 3 Zeya Kyaw Htin titles, 96 Wunna Kyaw Htin titles, 5 Alanka Kyaw Swar titles,  and 2 Theikpa Kyaw Swar titles, for the Independence Day, Armed Forces Day, and National Day of 2024. Honoring individuals who deserve recognition on national days is a long-standing tradition that dates back to the time of ancient Myanmar kings. It is also a way for the state to show gratitude to those who have made outstanding contributions, combining both grace and auspiciousness.

Five key future objectives, nine objectives, and two national goals set and implemented by the government are extensive and deeply integrated in their practical application. For instance, the country’s prosperity plans encompass various elements, including the rule of law, security, safe and efficient  transportation, peaceful education, and the ability of citizens to live, work, and thrive in a stable and peaceful environment. Each of these goals, objectives, and processes includes numerous detailed tasks that must be executed by each sector.

Therefore, to effectively and successfully carry out all of these processes within a short timeframe, I strongly urge all sectors, experts, and ethnic people to actively cooperate with the state government.

He stated that he would like to reiterate that the government is thankful to those who have provided exceptional service to the nation, fulfilling their duties with sacrifice and dedication.

He further expressed his happiness and honor in recognizing individuals in this manner. He also stated that he would continue to document and honor those who are deserving of recognition.

The Senior General then conferred honorary titles of the Order of the Union of  Myanmar to the following recipients: one individual with the Sithu title, eight  individuals with the Thura title (a military gallantry title), one individual with  the Thiripyanchi title, three individuals with the Zeya Kyaw Htin title, seventyeight individuals with the Wunna Kyaw Htin title, three individuals with the Alanka Kyaw Swar title, and two individuals with the Theikpa Kyaw Swar title.
