NAY PYI TAW February 21
Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by members of the entourage and the Eastern Command commander and officials, inspected farming activities at the local agriculture battalion in Bahtoo Station area and visited the local military hospital this morning.
At the meeting hall of local agriculture battalion, the Senior General heard a report on ongoing agricultural undertakings, supply of agriculture products for welfare activities, and progress in implementing the directives given by the Senior General during his inspection of the battalion in 2019, presented by the commanding officer.
In response, the Senior General said increase in yield must be prioritized in growing crops. The realization of Pandine target calls for quality seeds, fertile soil, water and correct methods. Solar power system will be arranged for irrigation of crops. Sunflower yield must be raised to help fulfil local demand. Output of other crops must also be promoted to reach the respective targets. The battalion must strive to stand as a model in agriculture under-takings. Civil servants and local people are thankful as the agriculture battalion is distributing farm products at fair prices, apart from conducting welfare undertakings. Hence, it must strive for achieving greater success.
Subsequently, the Senior General, along with entourage members, visited the model agricultural and livestock zone. They inspected the ground-water irrigation facility, the rearing of layers in an air conditioned, climate-controlled building, and records of the implementation of the model agricultural and livestock zone’s objectives and responsibilities. They also observed the pro-duction and use of natural compost rich in nutrients, made from raw materials such as donkey and horse manure from the livestock farm, as well as chicken, pig, and cow manure from the model zone, combined with other agricultural waste. Additionally, they reviewed the extraction and production of oil from sunflower seeds produced in the agricultural zone, the production of natural ferti-lizers, and the cultivation of high-quality, purebred seeds of crops such as pumpkin, gourd, pole beans, chili peppers, drum-sticks, mustard greens, and eggplant. These seeds are pro-duced in stages and distributed at affordable prices to military units, battalions, and external buyers. They also examined a demonstration plot for sunflower seed production, as well as the successful cultivation of vegetables in greenhouses and agricultural gardens within the zone. With keen interest, they conducted a thorough inspection and provided necessary guidance based on the reports from responsible personnel.
Thereafter, the Senior General and party toured and inspected the rearing of dairy cattle using insemation technology and the breeding of high-quality DYL pigs. They provided necessary instructions based on the detailed briefings from the relevant authorities.
Continuing their visit, the Senior General and party arrived at the local military hospital in Bahtoo military town. They met individually with officers and soldiers who had been injured while performing na-tional defence and security duties, inquiring warmly about the nature of their injuries and their recovery progress. They offered words of encouragement and addressed the needs raised by the officers and soldiers, ensuring that necessary support was provided.
Following this, the Senior General and party presented honorary cash awards and gift items to the officers and soldiers receiving treatment at the hospital.
Afterward, the Senior General conducted a tour and inspection of the hospital premises. He inquired about any requirements, ensured that necessary requirements were met, and presented honorary cash awards to the hospital staff in recognition of their service.
