A high-level delegation led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, which is paying an official friendly visit to Russian Federation, accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador to Russian Federation U Thit Lin Ohn and the Myanmar military attaché (Army, Navy and Air) to Russia, paid a visit to the Myanmar Theravada Buddhist Centre in Moscow and paid obeisance to the Sayadaw this evening local time.
First, the Senior General and delegation visited the Myanmar Theravada Buddhist Centre in Moscow and paid obeisance to presiding Sayadaw Maha Suddhama Jotika Dhaja Dr Bhaddanta Isariya in the Suddhama Jotika ordination hall to inquire about religious matters, accommodation and transportation, requirements for the Buddhist centre, religious activities to propagation of Buddhism in Russia before attending to the needs.
Then, the Senior General and delegation received the five precepts from the Sayadaw and meditated on sermons delivered by the Sayadaw.
Then, the Senior General and delegation offered cash and donations for the Sayadaw and monks.
The Myanmar Theravada Buddhist Centre in Moscow was established with the donations of the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air), families of the Embassy of Myanmar to Russian Federation, the office of the Military Attaché of Myanmar to Russia and those who are studying in Russia on scholarship led by the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla with the aim of the propagation of the Buddha Sasana under the guidance of State Ovada Cariya Shwekyin Nikara Chairman Ghanadhipati Saulasama head of the Shwe Kyin sect Chancellor
of Sitagu Buddhist Universities and Sitagu Hospitals Abhidhama Maha Ratha Guru Abhidhama Agga Maha Suddhama Jotika Dhaja Maha-Dhamma Kahtika Bhahu Jhana Hita Dhara Sitagu Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Nyarnisyssara and Professor (Head of Department) of the International Buddhist Missionary University Dhammaduta Sayadaw Dr Ashin Cekinda in 2013 and the merit sharing ceremony for the centre was held in 2015.
Similarly, under the guidance of the Sitagu Sayadaw, with the aim of practicing meditation at Myanma Theravada Buddha Vihara was built with the donations of the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air), families of the Embassy of Myanmar to Russian Federation,the office of the Military Attaché of Myanmar to Russia and those who are studying in Russia on scholarship led by the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and the merit sharing ceremony of the building was held in 2021. At present, the centre has become a hub for Buddhists in Russia and neighbouring countries.
