Myanmar-Belarus State-level meeting held

A State-level meeting between Myanmar and Belarus was held today in the afternoon, local time, at the Presidential Palace Conference Hall in Minsk, Belarus. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, and President of the Republic of Belarus H.E. Mr. Alexander Gregoryevich Lukashenko.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were members of the Myanmar delegation Joint Secretary of the Council General Ye Win Oo, Council member General Nyo Saw, union ministers, the Ambassador of Myanmar to Belarus, deputy ministers, and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander in-Chief. The Belarusian side was represented by high-ranking government officials accompanying the President.

During the discussions, both sides acknowledged that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, they share strong diplomatic and defence relations and are close friendly nations. They discussed the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during the goodwill visit, the organization of consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries, cooperation in dairy production, industrial crop cultivation, and other areas. They also explored ways to enhance trade and economic cooperation, investment opportunities, collaboration in agricultural machinery production, and other sectors.

Following the discussions, a ceremony was held to exchange signed agreements and MoUs between the two governments. The agreements included cooperation in sports, tourism, legal affairs, agriculture, and food safety. The exchange was conducted by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, and the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Subsequently, Chairman of the State Administration Coun cil Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, and the President of Belarus, H.E. Mr. Alexander Gregoryevich Lukashenko, jointly addressed the media, issuing a joint statement. The joint statement and their speeches will be sepa rately published.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing conferred the title of Agga Maha Thray Sithu upon the President of Belarus, H.E. Mr. Alexander Gregoryevich Lukashenko.

After the meeting, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, the head of the SAC’s information team and a member of the Senior General’s delegation during his goodwill visit, responded to media inquiries.
