Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min  Aung Hlaing inspects University of Information Technology and Yangon West  Technological University

Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min  Aung Hlaing, accompanied by SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SAC members, the Yangon Region chief minister, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Yangon Command commander and officials, inspected University of Information Technology, and Yangon West Technological University in Yangon Region this morning.

University of Information Technology

On arrival at the University of IT, the Department of Advanced Science and  Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hlaing Township, the Senior General and party were welcomed by officials. At the meeting hall, Rector of the university Dr Saw Sanda Aye reported on the transformation of Yangon Computer Science University into University of IT, historical facts about the university, its structure, subject-wise and year-wise academic activities, selection of scholars for external and internal post-graduate courses, region/state-wise students of the university, application of technology and management system in teaching, availability of occupational training and job opportunities for students, submission of papers at the International  Conference on Advanced Information Technologies (ICAIT), progress in extending the university buildings.

Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw presented a  supplementary report.

As regards the reports, the Senior General asked for more information about the academic matters and hostel requirements, and pointed out the importance of systematic hostel accommodation for students and housing quarters for teaching staff. The Senior General said arrangements must be made for students to do physical exercises.

The IT University has fine traditions. The ongoing academic undertakings must be in the interest of the country, he said, and gave guidance on beautifying the university and improving its appearance.

While looking around the university, the Senior General inspected the application of digital library system, training-aid system, AI system, teaching aid system, practical session in the K-LAB and inclusion of teaching aid friendly  classrooms, and looked into the requirements.

Yangon West Technological University

On arrival at Yangon West Technological University in Hlaingthaya Township, the Senior General and party were welcomed by Rector Dr Kyi Soe and faculty members.

At the hall of the main building, reports on progress in implementing the directives given by the Senior General during his inspection of the university in 2024, plans and undertakings to fulfil the building and road requirements of the university, progress in systematic demarcation of university borderline, adoption of a master plan for recreation center, and beautifying of the university environs and its appearance were presented.

In response to the presentations, the Senior General emphasized the importance of making more thorough preparations for the upcoming academic year. He said it is essential to ensure that adequate facilities are provided to allow students to study in a comfortable environment. When constructing school buildings, it is important to develop a plan to ensure that the design aligns with the features of a university.

Guidance is provided on how to systematically plant trees and other vegetation on school campus, along with additional requirements for the process.

Then, the Senior General inspected the progress of the new three-story main classroom building, the construction of classrooms, the auditorium, and the football field on the campus. He provided necessary instructions based on the presentations made by the officials.

Subsequently, the Senior General and party arrived at Bayintnaung Park. In the park’s briefing hall, the region chief minister and the mayor provided an update

on the Senior General’s visit to Hlaingthaya Township.

They discussed the progress of implementing guidelines for urban development, the construction and completion of public recreational areas, including multipurpose buildings, recreational spaces, parking lots, playgrounds, and swimming pools at Hlaingthaya Bayintnaung Public Park, in line with directives from the Head of State. They also highlighted the successful events held in the park, which drew large crowds in celebration, as well as the ongoing cleanliness and beautification efforts in Hlaingthaya Township.

In response to the presentations, the Senior General recalled his inspection visit to Hlaingthaya Township last year, during which he had instructed the improvement of water flow and the installation of electricity poles. He noted that there are still ongoing needs related to these efforts. It is essential to systematically enhance the drainage systems, repair drainage ditches, and bridges to improve water flow, ensuring that all work is carried out according to specifications. Improving water flow in Hlaingthaya is a critical issue that requires immediate attention and serious consideration.

It is essential to ensure that the entire township has effective water inflow and outflow systems. It is crucial to improve water flow and organize water outlets in a systematic manner before the arrival of the rainy season. In undertaking water flow improvement projects, it is essential to complete the work systematically, progressing step by step, section by section, and work area by work area.

Hlaingthaya Township is home to numerous factories and workshops, with many residents working there. Therefore, it is crucial that the platforms be of high quality. It is essential to systematically plan and execute projects aimed at ensuring greenery, cleanliness, and beautification within the township, thereby creating a good living environment that is well-suited to the city’s residents. He stated that, as township is part of the Yangon Metropolitan Area, urban development projects will continue to be implemented to transform it into a high-quality  city, along with other necessary measures.

The Senior General then inspected the progress of water flow improvement in the township and provided necessary instructions based on the reports presented by the officials.
