SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects collapse of Inwa Bridge in Sagging, loss and damage to Sagging in the earthquake, ongoing rehabilitation operations, fulfills necessary requirements

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by council members, Union ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and party, this morning inspected collapse of Inwa Bridge in Sagaing, loss and damage to Sagaing in the event of earthquake and ongoing rehabilitation process, and fulfilled the requirements.

In inspecting the collapsed Inwa Bridge of Sagging, the Senior General and party heard reports on efforts to remove iron frames of the bridge by officials.

In his response, the Senior General gave guidance on soonest removal of iron frames from the 4th span and the 5th span of the bridge in the main waterway before monsoon, and efforts for opening the upstream and downstream waterways.

The Senior General and party inspected clearing of debris at Yadana Zedi Hsinmyarshin Pagoda damaged by the earthquake and gave necessary guidance to officials who submitted the work reports.

At No 1 Basic Education High School, the Senior General inspected accommodation for quake-affected people at the temporary relief camp and loss and damage to the school buildings.

In responding to the report of officials, the Senior General urged them to supervise systematic repair of school buildings to be completed before opening schools.

The Senior General noted that if not, the dangerous school buildings must be dissolved systematically and left necessary instructions.

On arrival at Sagging General Hospital, the Senior General viewed round medical treatment for members of the Sangha, nuns and residents who sustained injuries in the earthquake at the temporary hospital and necessary healthcare services.

The Senior General comforted patients and presented cash assistance and foodstuff for the injured.

After viewing round the hospital, the Senior General attended to the need of officials.

The Senior General and party proceeded to the site where a temporary hospital is under construction and cordially greeted medical teams from Malaysia which take positions at the 700 anniversary sports ground in PA rami Ward to provide healthcare services to the quake-affected people and spoke words of appreciation.

After visiting the temporary hospital, the Senior General presented flower baskets for medical teams of Malaysia through the team leader who returned an emblem of the Malaysian medic team to the Senior General.

Accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the Senior General went to Sitagu Vipassana Monastery and paid homage to State Ovadacariya 16th Shwegyin Sangharaja Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru Abhidhaja Aggahama Saddhammajotika Dr Bhaddanta Nyanissara.

 The Senior General offered Ks-20 million donated by his family and 1,500 tons of cement donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) for using them in maintenance of stupas and temples damaged by the earthquake.

Moreover, they all shared merits gained from donations dedicated to members of the Sangha, nuns and people who lost lives in the earthquake.

The Senior General, along with his team, inspected the earthquake recovery efforts at Soon Oo Ponnyashin Pagoda and the renovation of the Maha Pagoda in Yai Tan Ward.

The Senior General observed the clearing and removal of damaged buildings and ongoing reconstruction work.

Following briefings from officials, the Senior General provided necessary guidance and presented cash rewards to military personnel, Myanmar police,

and firefighters involved in the recovery operations.

Then, the Senior General and his members visited the Shwe Kyet Kya Pagoda in Amarapura Township, Mandalay, which was damaged by the earthquake.

The Senior General and his wife paid homage to the Buddha Image and offered flowers, water and candles.

Then, the Senior General inspected the damage to the Buddha Image due to the earthquake and gave instructions to the officials to carry out the restoration work in accordance with the original works and to provide guidance on the necessary measures.

After that, the Senior General inspected along Kannar Road where the damage occurred due to the earthquake.

Then, the Senior General and his team arrived at the Maha Muni Pagoda and inspected the damage to the pagoda and religious buildings due to the earthquake and the status of the restoration work.

The Senior General gave instructions to the officials to carry out the restoration work before the rains, and to preserve it systematically as it is an invaluable ancient heritage, and to provide other necessary guidance.

After that, the Senior General and his wife paid homage to the Maha Muni Buddha Image and offered flowers and water.

After that, the Senior General and party visited the Maha Loka Marazein Kuthodaw Pagoda, where the Fifth Buddhist Council was convened, in Mandalay. The Senior General inspected one of the two ancient doors, 17 feet 4 inches high, 5 feet 2 inches wide, and an estimated weight of 0.85 tonnes, which had been installed since the construction of the pagoda, moved up and down during the earthquake and fell from its place due to the earthquake and the stone pillars, and officials explained about it.

Following the explanations, the Senior General gave instructions to reinstall the ancient door that had fallen in its original place and to carry out the necessary work to repair the stone pillars.

Then, the Senior General and his wife paid homage to the Maha Loka Marazein Kuthodaw Pagoda by offering flowers, water, and candles.
