Nay Pyi Taw April 28
The State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar offered a day meal to Buddhist monks in memory of the people including monks and laypersons, who died in the Mandalay earthquake a month ago this morning in Nay Pyi Taw, Union Territory.
Present on the occasion to offer day meal to the eminent monks led by Patron Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Janinda of Pauk-myaing Monsatery, Leway, Nay Pyi Taw and State Ovadacarira Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Acinna of Maha Thihanada Monastery, Tatkon were Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, the SAC Secretary and wife, the SAC Joint Secretary and wife, SAC members, union level dignitar-ies, union ministers and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, deputy mini-sters and officials.
First, a video clip on damages caused by the earthquake, joint rescue and relief operations conducted by local rescue teams and international rescue teams with ardent efforts, and ongoing rehabilitation activities carried out systematically in order of priority was screened.
Afterwards, the memorial service began with the recitation of Namotassa three times and the congregation accepted the Five Precepts from the Sayadaw of Maha Thihanada Monastery.
The congregation led by the Senior General and wife showed deep reverence to the religious sermons recited by the monks.
The Senior General and wife presented offertories to the Sayadaw of Paukmyaing Monastery.
The Vice-Senior General and wife presented offertories to the Sayadaw of Maha Thihanada Monastery. The SAC Secretary and wife, the SAC Joint Secretary and wife, and SAC members and wives also presented offertories to the monks.
Sayadaw of Mingala Zayyon Monastery, Pali Tekkatho Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanata Vimala Buddhi delivered a sermon. The congregation led by the Senior General and wife shared merits gained to the people including monks and laypersons, who died in the earthquake.
The congregation recited Buddha Sasanam ciramtithatu three times to mark the end of the religious event.
Afterwards, the Senior General and wife, the Vice-Senior General and wife and attendees offered day meal to Sayadaws.
