Nay Pyi Taw, March 14
Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Tateshi HIGUCHI, who is returning home as he has completed his tour of duty, at the parlour of Bayintnaung villa here this evening.
Also present together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Japanese ambassador was accompanied by Military Attaché Col Kei TAJIKA.
The Senior General recounted exchange of goodwill visits between the two armed forces of Myanmar and Japan while the ambassador served his duties, praising him for his efforts to further promote bilateral friendship and cooperation. They then discussed real situations revealed by the Myanmar government and the Tatmadaw over the incidents in Buthidaung-Maungtaw region, Rakhine State, Japanese assistance in Myanmar’s internal peace process, bilateral cooperation in development tasks, assistance to be provided by Japan in eliminating narcotic drugs and further strengthening of amicability and cooperation between the two armed forces of the countries.
After the call, the Senior General presented a gift to the Japanese ambassador.
