Disciples led by Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Maha Kammathanacariya Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dhammakathika Bahujanahitadhara Dhammaduta Dr Ashin Chekinda donated Thawtapan edible oil to lecturer and student monks and nuns at monasteries in Nay Pyi Taw, Pyinmana, Lewe and Tatkon townships from Nay Pyi Taw Council Area held at Mingala Byuha Sasana Beikman of Pyinmana of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area this morning.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Sangha led by Abbot of Paukmyaing Monastery of Lewe Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Janinda and nuns, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and wife, Lt-Gen Sein Win and wife and Lt-Gen Ye Aung and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military offi cers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, and commanders of stations, regiments and units.
First, the Senior General and wife and those present took the Five Precepts from Paukmyaing Sayadaw and heard Parittas recited by members of the Sangha. The Senior General and wife offered alms to Paukmyaung Sayadaw. Then, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and wife, Lt-Gen Sein Win and wife and Lt-Gen Ye Aung and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, and senior military offi cers donated offertories to members of the Sangha.
The wife of the Senior General and wives of the Union Ministers presented donations to nuns. Then, those present took a sermon delivered by Dhammaduta Dr Ashin Chekinda and shared merits gained.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and wife and those present at the ceremony offered meals to members of the Sangha and nuns. At the fifth Thawtapan edible oil donation ceremony held today, a total of 3,602 viss of Thawtapan edible oil and alms worth more than Ks-15.4 million was donated to 68 monasteries in Nay Pyi Taw, Pyinmana, Lewe and Tatkon townships of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
