Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a team led by U Kalardar (a) U Maung Win, Chairman of All Myanmar Gurkha Hindu Dhamma Organization, at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, here, this morning.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Myo Zaw Thein from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and senior military officers. The Chairman of the All Myanmar Gurkha Hindu Dhamma Organization was accompanied by Patron U Mawnilal and officials.
At the meeting, the Senior Gene-ral explained that Gurkha service-men posted milestones in the history of Tatmadaw with fine traditions in discharging their duties loyally and gallantly. The Senior General said he took pride of Gurkha servicemen, some of whom were awarded gallantry medals including highest title Aung San Thuriya and many officers and other ranks of Gurkha have been in military services till today. The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal which is native of Gurkha people and Myanmar are in good friendship. The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services paid a goodwill visit to Nepal in December 2017 in order to enhance friendly ties between the two countries and the two armed forces.
The Chairman of All Myanmar Gurkha Hindu Dhamma Organization prayed for the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, servicemen and families to have physical and mental well-being on the New Year occasion of 1380 Myanmar Era and to successfully serve the State duties. He added the organization representing all Gurkha people residing in the entire Myanmar was officially recognized by the State. Gurkha people are honest and work peacefully, and they have been preserving their fine traditions till today with honest and loyal services in the Tatmadaw and are loyal to the State.
Then, they frankly discussed formation of the Myanmar-Nepalese Friendship Association, enhancement of friendly relations, bilateral trade and tourism industry between the two countries, and situation for anyone to peacefully live in Myanmar under the law.
After the meeting, the Senior General presented gifts to the Chairman and members of the team from All Myanmar Gurkha Hindu Dhamma Organization. The Chairman also gave gifts to the Senior General. Later, they posed for documentary photo.
