Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation of Joint Peace Fund- JPF led by Italian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Pier Giorgio Aliberti at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning.
Together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and senior military officers. The Italian Ambassador, who is also alternate chairman of JPF, was accompanied by alternate vice chairman of JPF Deputy Head of Mission of Norwegian Embassy Mrs. Lise Nordgaard and members.
At the meeting, both sides cordially discussed the formation of JPF in November 2015 with Australia, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, Finland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, Britain and the United States with the aim of providing financial and technical aid and consultation to the organizations working on Myanmar’s peace process, conditions of various ethnic armed organizations that emerged in Myanmar from different historical backgrounds, patience and efforts for achieving peace, the Tatmadaw’s implementation of the six-point peace policy, impossibility to pursue democracy through armed struggle line in any nation and the need for JPF to learn objective conditions in giving assistance to Myanmar’s peace process.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the JPF chairman posed for a documentary photo together with those present.
