Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received H.E. Mr. Sun Guoxiang, Special Envoy of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at Bayintnaung Parlour here this morning.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Than Tun Oo and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). H.E. Mr. Sun Guoxiang was accompanied by Mrs. Li Xiaoyan, Minister Counsellor of the PRC Embassy in Myanmar, the military attaché and officials.
Cordial discussions were centred on the KIA-TNLA combined group’s violent attacks on security posts and homes in Muse Township on 12 May, China’s condemnation of the attacks, proper care provided by China for civilians who fled to the country in fear, special emphasis put on the peace and stability in the common border, the government and the Tatmadaw’s efforts for restoring internal peace, and the Chinese assistance.
