Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by President of Geneva-based International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mr. Peter Maurer at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, here, this evening.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The President of the ICRC was accompanied by the director of Asia-Pacific Region and officials.
At the meeting, they frankly exchanged views on development tasks and humanitarian aid being carried out by the ICRC team in conflict areas of Kachin and Rakhine states and assistance of the Tatmadaw, situation of scrutiny for aid of the ICRC to be given to those who actually require, plans of the Tatmadaw to help the ICRC and the government carry out remaining tasks to be done for reconstruction of infrastructures in Rakhine State, needs to provide assistance to the peaceful regions of Myanmar where any conflicts happen, sending of Tatmadawmen and members of Myanmar Police Force to attend the conflict solving courses, and cooperation between the Tatmadaw and the ICRC in medical education and prevention of danger of mines.
After the meeting, the Senior General presented the commemorative gifts to the President of ICRC and posed for documentary photo.
