Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received members of the Peace Process Steering Team-PPST led by Chairman of Karen National Union (KNU) Saw Mutu Sae Poe at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, here, this noon.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in- Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo, Commander-in- Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Lt-Gen Khin Zaw Oo (Retd).
The KNU Chairman was accompanied by KKO Chairman Saw Mu Shae, KNU/KNLA (PC) General Secretary Naw Kapaw Htoo, leader of peace process team from RCSS/SSA U Baung Khe, Patron of PNLO Khun Okkar, ALP Vice Chairman U Khaing Soe Naing Aung, ABSDF Chairman U Than Khe, CNF Chairman U Pu Zin Cung, MNSP (Mon) Chairman U Nai Htaw Mon and LDU Vice Chairman U Kyar Solomon and officials.
At the meeting, the Senior General said all must join the path of democracy. To do so, all must march towards the democracy and federal system-based Union. The Tatmadaw must uphold Our Three Main National Causes. The government, the Tatmadaw and the people must work in concert to restore peace.
The Senior General and members of the Peace Process Steering Team-PPST exchanged views on tasks which should be carried out for restoring internal peace, and matters related to the non-signatories to sign the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement-NCA.
After the meeting, the Senior General presented commemorative gifts to members of the Peace Process Steering Team-PPST and posed for documentary photo together with them.
