Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received UNSG’s Special Envoy on Myanmar Ms. Christine Schraner Burgener at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, here, this morning.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and senior military officers. The UNSG’s Special Envoy on Myanmar was accompanied by Team Leader of South and Southeast Asia Mr. Shin Umezu.
At the meeting, the Senior General explained progress of practising democracy in Myanmar, efforts to restore eternal peace, solving the problems happening in Buthidaung and Maungtaw region of Rakhine State by the government and the Tatmadaw with the best effort, and needs to provide assistance to local ethnic people while INGOs give aid in Rakhine State.
Then, they cordially exchanged views on progress of Myanmar on the path of democracy, holding the 3rd Union Peace Conference-21st Panglong Conference, endeavours of the government and the Tatmadaw for restoring eternal peace, and cooperation in narcotic drug eradication.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the UNSG’s Special Envoy on Myanmar posed for a documentary photo.
