Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Commander-in-Chief
(Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Thet Pon and officials, inspected Myanma Thagaung War Veterans Housing (Laydaunkkan) in Dagon Seikkan Township, Yangon Region, this morning.
Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, Commander Maj-Gen Thet Pon and Director of Directorate of Military Engineers Maj-Gen Maung Maung Myint presented a report on the construction of the War Veterans Housing, growing of shade-trees and windbreakers, erection of a pedigree layer farm and plans to build a garment factory which will generate jobs opportunities for families of the war veterans.
In response, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stressed the need to build the housing in accord with the standard quality, to green the environment of the housing by growing shade-trees and windbreakers, to set up micro industries to generate jobs opportunities for families of the war veterans and to adopt plans for possible health and education needs for the growing population of residents in the future.
The Senior General and party inspected the progress in building the housing and the layer farm and fulfilled the requirements. Eighty-two percent of the seven two-unit six-storey buildings for other ranks have been completed in 2017. Piling of four two-unit six-storey buildings for junior officers and nine two-unit six-storey buildings for other ranks is underway at present. At the same time, a modern layer farm is being built for supplying food to the families of war veterans, and plans are underway to build a garment factory for job opportunities.
The Senior General and party went to No. (1) agricultural and livestock breeding ward of the Basic Education High School near the war veteran housing. The Senior General inspected the school library, canteen, arrangements for beautifying the school environs and earth work for construction of a football field. They were conducted round there by the region education officer and officials.
For the children of war veterans and local people in No. (1) agricultural and livestock breeding ward to be able to pursue education comfortably, families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) are continuing tasks for installing a transformer, providing school desks, tables and computers, keeping the school campus clean and tidy, repairing the school canteens, doing earth work for building a sports ground and growing grass and plants for greening the school environs.
The Senior General and party proceeded to the station hospital of No. (1) agricultural and livestock breeding ward, where they inspected upgrading of the operation theatre by the Tatmadaw. He then comforted the local people receiving treatment.
On arrival at the defence services hospital in Indaing Station, the Senior General heard a report by the commandant on four military building tasks, medical treatment and providing of medical treatment by mobile teams for the local people in the organizational areas. The Senior General fulfilled the requirements.
