Families of Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army, Navy and Air) hold second monsoon tree-growing ceremony for 2018

Aimed at contributing to the climatic conditions,having shade and shelter and earning incomes from valuable perennial plants and crops if necessary, families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air)have been holding the monsoon tree-growing ceremonies around Yezin Dam yearly since 2011. This morning, they held the second monsoon tree-growing ceremony for 2018, attended by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

 

Also present at the ceremony together with the Senior General were his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, the Union Minister for Home Affairs and wife, the Union Minister for Defence and wife, the Union Minister for Border Affairs and wife, the Chief of the General Staff(Army,Navy and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, senior officer trainees from the National Defence College, officers, other ranks and families from the offices and departments from the Offi ce of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).

First, the Senior General and wife grew the Tamalan(Italic) plant. Then, the Vice-Senior General and wife, the Union Ministers and their wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, officers, other ranks and families planted saplings at the designated places.

The Senior General and party viewed round participation of officers, other ranks and families in collectively growing the saplings. At today’s second ceremony for 2018, they grew 195 Tamalan (Italic) plants, 2,217 gum-kino plants, 1,400 mahogany plants and 1,612 teak plants, totalling 5,433.Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army,Navy and Air) planted 127,263 trees including valuable saplings, perennial trees and windbreaks in the monsoon tree-growing ceremonies from 2011 to 2018 including this 2nd monsoon treegrowing ceremony in order to conserve natural environment and ecosystem around Yezin Dam.

Simultaneously, the second monsoon tree-growing ceremonies took place in respective military commands this morning. The commanders of military commands, officers,other ranks and families grew 29,066 saplings in Nay Pyi Taw Command, 22,449 saplings in Northern Command,10,683 saplings in North-East Command, 12,528 saplings in Eastern Command, 15,230 saplings in Central East Command, 32,507 saplings in Triangle Region Command, 47,050 saplings in South-East Command,28,152 saplings in Coastal Region Command, 37,735 saplings in Yangon Command, 13,678 saplings in South-West Command, 31,987 saplings in Western Command,23,550 saplings in North-West Command, 31,343 saplings in Central Command and 41,546 saplings in Southern Command respectively. The whole Tatmadaw planted 377,504 saplings in total at the today’s ceremony.
