Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met Defence Minister of Russian Federation Army General Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shouigu at the meeting hall where Army Forum-2018 and Week of National Security would be held this morning.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Maj-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Maj-Gen Soe Win from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) to Russian Federation Brig-Gen Nyunt Swe and senior military officers. The Russian Defence Minister was accompanied by Deputy Minister Colonel General Alexander V. Fomin and senior military officers.
Both sides cordially exchanged views on cooperation in training and military technology between the two armed forces, cooperation in anti-terrorism, Russia’s support and assistance for Myanmar in solving the problems in northern Rakhine State, promotion of cooperation between the two armed forces and exchange of goodwill visits.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Russian Defence Minister exchanged gifts. Next, the Senior General attended the opening of Army Forum-2018 and Week of National Security held at Main Exhibition Center (3rd Floor), and the dinner hosted by the Russian Deputy Defence Minister.
The Senior General and party studied tanks and armoured vehicles used by Russia and military rival countries during World War 2, military equipment booths and display of missiles and jet fi ghters being used by Russia. They were conducted round there by an official. Later, the Senior General and party viewed medical technology and military equipment booths in Main Exhibition Center.
