Nay Pyi Taw September 11
As we have the experiences of the seizure of the country’s resources and the destruction of culture, patriotism, race and religion during the colonial era, we must prevent such incidents from happening again in the future. In this regard, the Tatmadaw which is mainly responsible for national defence must be brilliant and the one that can protect the country. As the strength of the nation lies within, there will be strength only if all are united. Every country that lacks internal unity breaks up. The nation will be strong only if all the ethnic races are in unity, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at separate meetings with officers, other ranks and families of Bawlakhe Station and officer instructors and other ranks and officer trainees and other ranks of advanced training school of Pruso Station and trainees of border guard force this morning and afternoon.
Also present at the meetings together with the Senior General were his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief (Navy)Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army),Commander of Eastern Command Maj-Gen Lin Aung, officers, other ranks and families of the station and officer instructors and other ranks and officer trainees and other ranks and trainees of border guard force.
At the meetings, the Senior General said transport was poor in the areas in the past. Now, they have peace and stability and better transport to a certain degree. But there is no eternal peace till now. Because of differences in ideologies and ethnic affairs the nation has been facing ethnic armed conflicts since independence was restored in 1948. The then Tatmadaw government had made peace with armed ethnic groups. The democratic government elected by the people in 2011 could put the remaining armed ethnic groups back on the road to peace.Under the democracy system all endeavours are carried out within the framework of law.No endeavour can be carried out beyond the legal framework. Differences in ideologies and views in connection with the ethnic affairs can be settled within the framework of the law. So, peace was offered to the armed ethnic groups. All the national races are living in every area of the regions and states of Myanmar. There is no area where only a single race lives. There is no place where only one national race is entrusted with special privileges. There is no ethnic discrimination and there is equality among all the nationalities. In building permanent peace, Tatmadawmen in respective areas are to make sure people are in unison with the Tatmadaw, and win the trust of people and become their reliance. As the main responsibility of Tatmadaw is State defence, training and public service, the Tatmadaw can win public trust and reliance by continuously engaging in education, health and development works, which are the needs of people. And Tatmadaw has to enhance the capacity of their troops while so doing.
Tatmadawmen are on duty round the clock as they have to make themselves ready for strengthening the army, State defence and regional security. Tatmadaw troops will have readiness by continuously doing their respective daily training session. While Tatmadawmen have to do exercise, they also need to eat wholesome foods to stay fit and strong. They should abstain from smoking, drinking and chewing betel quid which can affect their health. Since Tatmadaw is an establishment that exercises regimentation,Tatmadawmen have to obey the orders given by their superiors. All the Tatmadawmen and their families have to treat each other with brotherly and family spirit. They have to report their requirements to the authorities through the chain of command. Tatmadaw will win the respect and trust of people by building internal unity.
Tatmadaw Advanced Training Schools, he said, are important in enhancing the capacity of Tatmadaw. They are intended to teach necessary subjects to improve and upgrade the military skills of Tatmadawmen. It is important that Tatmadawmen practise the things taught by the school in the real world. In accordance with the principle of “learn, exercise and practise,” Tatmadawmen have to study continuously to be familiar with modern warfare and weapons that advances with time, and exercise continuously to have expertise, and always practise the learning in the real world. Only then, Tatmadaw will be able to protect the country. Every army in every country is meant for protecting their countries. Myanmar exercises independent and active foreign policy, and has established normal ties with all the countries.
In building a country, guarantee has to be given to the public through the constitution regarding the politics, economy and administration. The constitution was ratified with the wishes of the majority of citizens. There is a need to guarantee stability in terms of politics and security. The Tatmadaw, formed in accordance with law have to act in line with law, and action is being taken against those who do not act in line with law. Tatmadawmen are born of the people. As they are part of the people, they need to follow military laws as well as civilian laws and rules. The Tatmadaw is acting in discipline as the discipline is its backbone. In this context, each and every Tatmadawman must live in military discipline. Discipline means dos and don’ts,and military discipline is the lifeblood of the Tatmadaw. Thus, Tatmadawmen must try to be well disciplined, said the Senior General.
