Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by officials, arrived at the Eastern Command Headquarters this morning, and at the meeting hall, Commander of Eastern Command Maj-Gen Lin Aung reported on arrangements for security and regional peace and stability within the command.
In response to the report, the Senior General stressed the need for emergence of capable military units in order to shoulder national defence duties conscientiously, for cooperation with departmental organizations in preventing and eliminating the danger of narcotic drugs and ensuring regional security and for responsible officials to give practical performances in and lead military building tasks.
The Senior General then delivered a speech in meeting with officers, other ranks and families from Taunggyi Station at Thanlwin hall of the command headquarters.
Also present at the meeting were the Senior General’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla,Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief(Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife,senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Eastern Command Maj-Gen Lin Aung and officers, other ranks and families from the station.
The Senior General said the Tatmadaw is discharging State defence duties. It is trying to achieve lasting peace. The constitution has clearly given equal rights for national races. For the amendment, Chapter (12) of the constitution has prescribed that it can be amended in accord with the law. Myanmar is the Union which has been formed with various national races since ancient times.Myanmar’s territory before the First Anglo-Myanmar War in 1823 was wider than that of the country today. Under the colonial rule,Myanmar was regarded as a part of India. In the colonial era, divide-and-rule policy was exercised among the nationalities. Now, the Tatmadaw is trying to achieve eternal peace across the country. The holding of the Union Peace Conference started in 2011. Eight ethnic armed groups signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA). The road of peace we are going on is aimed at achieving eternal peace after ending armed conflicts,said the Senior General.
The Senior General continued to say that Tatmadawmen and their families are born of the people and they are a part of the country.It is important that people trust the Tatmadaw because the Tatmadaw and the people must be in oneness. Individual Tatmadawmen,and all Tatmadawmen as a whole need to live and work in unity. Good discipline of individuals will help the whole Tatmadaw to be well-disciplined.
The Senior General stressed the need to individually strive for improvement of their lives. Married servicemen are leaders of their families. The leaders of families need to develop their households. Members of families should follow leadership of their fathers and husbands. The Senior General urged them to consider the nature of the families that if the leader of household is weak, his family members will lose face. That is why the Senior General urged them all to have self-control in improving themselves. Moreover, the Senior General noted that capability of individual serviceman affects the whole Tatmadaw and represents the Tatmadaw as well. Hence, the servicemen must abide by disciplines in individuals to have their skills. Leaders need to perform fair management over them while striving for development of their societies. The Senior General highlighted that it needs to read fiction and non-fiction books for improvement of their lives and widening of knowledge in individuals. As such, they will have high qualification individually.
The Senior General presented foodstuffs for officers, other ranks and families of the station to the command commander.
Daw Kyu Kyu Hla also presented cash award for the maternal and child welfare association of the station to the wife of the command commander.
Admiral Tin Aung San, General Maung Maung Kyaw and Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Nyo Saw gave foodstuffs, sports gear and fiction and non-fiction books for officers, other ranks and families through officials.
On arrival at Nanthida all-round agriculture and livestock breeding farm of Eastern Command, the Senior General and party inspected breeding of DYL pigs, dairy cows and broilers at the breeding farms where they were conducted round the farms.
At the briefing hall, the commander and the in-charge of the farm reported on undertakings of agriculture and livestock breeding tasks and selling of meat, fish,vegetables, eggs and milk to Tatmadaw families at fair prices.
After hearing the reports, the Senior General instructed them to emphasize cultivation tasks suitable for the region, minimize use of chemicals in making feedstuffs, prioritize selling of surplus products in sale for the Tatmadaw families to departmental personnel at reduced prices, and strive for performing the agriculture and livestock breeding tasks to become a model one for local people.
In the evening, the Senior General and party visited the local Tatmadaw hospital in Aungpan. The Senior General cordially greeted and comforted officers and other ranks injured in the battlefi eld receiving medical treatment at the special care unit and presented foodstuffs.
Likewise, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla cordially greeted and comforted children of Tatmadaw families and family members receiving treatment at the infant care department and child medical and surgical department and gave foodstuffs. After viewing poem recitation of children at Pyinnya Yinkhwin self-reliant pre-primary school of the unit,Daw Kyu Kyu Hla presented gifts and cash award to them.
The Senior General and party inspected extended construction of medical wards in the compound of the Tatmadaw hospital.
Then, the Senior General fulfilled the requirements of officials after giving necessary instructions.
