Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Nikolay Listopadov at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, here, this morning.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Lt- Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and officials. The Russian Ambassador to Myanmar was accompanied by Military Attaché Colonel Eduard Okladnikov and officials.
At the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing recounted that his visit to Russia in August this year was a successful trip. The Myanmar Tatmadaw gained much experience in taking part in the 2018 International Army Game. He expressed his thanks to Russia for understanding events in Myanmar and his emphasis on relations of two countries as Russia is a good friend. With regard to Rakhine issue,the Senior General said the press releases and talks of the Tatmadaw are true. As the Tatmadaw represents the State, its talks and press releases also represent the State. Every armed forces throughout the world is responsible for defending their country and ethnics. The Myanmar Tatmadaw is also responsible for safeguarding and defending the State and ethnics and is safeguarding them under the law, and such act is just and fair. However, international community wrongly accuses Myanmar of various reasons. The Tatmadaw is safeguarding peace and stability and rule of law for the State and preventing the acts harming the individual rights of each person prescribed in the constitution and national characters under the law. The report related to Myanmar issue was based on facts one-sidedly investigated.Myanmar will face it to correctly solve in cooperation with friend countries. Concerning the peace,if there is no peace, anyone cannot live peacefully throughout the world. Making problems harm peace. If a country is not peaceful,it will not meet development.The Tatmadaw is striving for achieving eternal peace. Building a Standard Army aims to become a Tatmadaw with capability of defending the State and a Tatmadaw on which the State can rely. As the country is on the path of democracy, the Tatmadaw must cooperate with the government elected by the people.
Then, they cordially discussed enhancement of friendly relations between the two armed forces of both countries, efforts for strategic cooperation, cooperation in technology,anti-terrorism, scholarship courses, and participation in the International Army Game.
After the meeting, the Senior General and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Nikolay Listopadov posed for documentary photo together with those present.
