As Myanmar emphasizes restoring of eternal peace and development tasks, it needs to improve relations between the two countries as well as between the two peoples.Moreover, emphasis should be placed on cooperation in achieving good relations with all ethnics and carrying out development of ethnic regions, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his meeting with Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee H.E. Mr. Song Tao at Shwe San Ein Hotel, here, this morning.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Than Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Minister of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hong Liang and officials.
At the meeting, the Chinese Minister said he knew the important role of Myanmar Tatmadaw in politics of Myanmar and stability and development of the country. The Communist Party of China specially emphasizes relations with Myanmar Tatmadaw. During this goodwill tour, he met with respective political forces in Myanmar, expressing his belief to promote relations between the two countries. He disclosed China will cooperate with Myanmar Tatmadaw in restoring internal peace and development of Myanmar in order to strengthen relations between the two countries and two armed forces.
In his response, the Senior General said Myanmar and China should try not to harm the existing good relations and to continuously maintain it as both countries are good old friends. He said he would like to suggest that China should further promote its stand on political reforms of Myanmar and enhance friendly relations between political forces, peoples and ethnics. He called for providing necessary assistance to develop Myanmar.He recounted that at his meeting with President Mr. Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China,they frankly held discussions on peace and stability of Myanmar,unity and development. He called for development of ethnics from border region. The Tatmadaw is placing emphasis on achieving internal peace. Peace can be restored only through discussions, but not through armed struggle line.
Then, they exchanged views on promotion of friendly ties between the two countries, progress of Myanmar on the path of democracy, efforts of the government and the Tatmadaw for restoring eternal peace, stance of China on the issue of Rakhine State, and further enhancement of friendly relations between the two countries and two armed forces.
After the meeting, the Senior General hosted a working lunch to Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee H.E. Mr. Song Tao. After the lunch,the Senior General and the Chinese Minister exchanged commemorative gifts.
