Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Ambassador of Australia to Myanmar H.E. Ms. Andrea Faulkner at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this evening.
Also present together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Australian Ambassador was accompanied by Australian Military Attaché to Myanmar Colonel Paul Bruce and officials.
Both sides extensively discussed improved relations between Myanmar and Australia which have been on friendly terms since ancient times, hopes for the situation returning to normalcy as quickly as possible after Australia’s bushfire, Australia’s best efforts to resolve the plight of wildlife and lessen the sufferings of those injured in putting out the bushfire, defence cooperation between the two armed forces of the two countries, sending of more trainees, Indo-Pacific Region’s geographical politics, conducting of necessary investigations and establishment of a court-martial since before the report of the Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE), actions being taken by the Tatmadaw in accord with the law over the provisional measures decided by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), correlation between armed conflicts and narcotic drug production in Myanmar and its anti-drug drive and assistance to be rendered by Australia in fighting narcotics.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Australian Ambassador exchanged gifts and posed for a documentary photo together with those present.
